Is This the New Normal? America’s Electricity Demand and What It Means for Your Business

According to a recent estimate from the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), U.S. annual electricity consumption is expected to grow by 55% by 2050. In 2024, U.S. electricity consumption was 3,936 terawatt-hours (TWh). NEMA projects that figure will reach 6,130 TWh by 2050.
The surge in demand is placing unprecedented pressure on an aging grid that was never designed to carry this kind of load.
The current administration is attempting to address this new reality head-on with the Ratepayer Protection Pledge.
